Chord / Lead Generator

Take a closer look.....

In order to build a chord you need three notes.. yes only three notes! Those same notes are the ones you should "target" when soloing.

But what are the notes and how do I find them easily?

This is where the Chord and Lead Generator comes in.

First select your key with the Circle of fifths dial, next adjust your Fretboard Escalator to the match the key. Now decide on a chord progression. For example a I V vi IV or a (1 5 6 4) progression.

The Roman Numerals on the left of the Chord and Lead Generator represent the Nashville numbering system. These are the chords that can be built by simply using the numbers to the right of the Roman numerals. Those numbers on the right are also therefore the chord tones you want to target during a solo.

By using this system it opens up a much larger number of notes for use in a solo compared to simply using the pentatonic scale.

Of course you can remove the 4 and the 7 from the Fretboard Escalator and use the pentatonic scale while still targeting the chord notes.

Who is this tool for?

The Chord and Lead generator can be used by anyone from beginner to expert. After a while you will begin to memorize the numbers and it will become a reference.

What about the minor keys?

No problem here, on the opposite side of each major plate is the minor version so you can also use this with minor keys.

Is this cheating?

No this is simply giving you the ability to learn at a faster pace. All the right answers are in front of you without any searching. It makes practice fun and using scale degrees (numbers on the Fretboard Escalator and Chord Lead Generator) is a legitimate way to learn.
